How likely are you to need a "touch-up" procedure after a LASIK surgery? Assuming after a healing period following surgery that you are in the area of 20/20, in good health, and previously suffered from mild to moderate near-sightness only? How often are touch-up's needed? Despite the relative newness of true Lasik technology, am I safe to assume 20+ years down the road most will not need it? Is paying the extra 1000 dollars for the lifetime touch-up plan a waste of money if all goes reasonably well the first surgery? (The company is Lasik Plus in case you are curious) Thanks.

What is the difference between Lasik and PRK? I was informed all about Lasik but once it came down to it the doctor said I could only have PRK laser surgery and not Lasik. I don't know much about PRK.. I mean I know it takes longer to heal and I basically know the procedure.. but I wasn't informed of the side affects it may have and I can't seem to find the information I need online. Has anyone had this surgery? WHta were your results and did it hurt? I need as much information as possible please before I make a decision. I will be calling the doctor tomorrow, but I would rather hear about it from people who have actually had it done. Thanks in advance.

How long do you have to wait before getting water into your eyes after LASIK? I had LASIK performed on 26th Feb '08, and was told not to get water into my eyes (eg. in the shower etc) for the first couple of months afterwards, as this increases chances of infection. But now it's April is it safe to do so - still being careful not to get soap or anything harsh in my eyes though. Thanks.
Who has had lasik before and what are the results? Are there any side effects you have? If so, how bad is it? *important Question* how long has it been since your LASIK? Can someone describe their vision the first few days after LASIK surgery? I'm having LASIK this Thursday to correct a high astigmatism. The surgeon is highly recommended, educated, and I trust him completely. I know most people see dramatic results right away, but varying sources say it can take up to 6 months before your vision is stabilized. Has anyone else had this surgery and how well was your recovery time? Were you able to see better right away and go on with daily life as normal?

What does the future hold for LASIK eye surgery? I'm going to school to become a commercial pilot. Obviously my career depends on being able to see 20/20 with or without correction (I'm 20/200 without contacts, slight astigmatism). I'm 30 years now but have considered eye surgery my entire life. (even RK back in the day). Obviously technology has improved by leaps and bounds. When LASIK rolled out I thought how could it get better than this? My best friend is a MD and he told me to hold off for a few years (this was 4-5 years ago) and now we have custom wavefront LASIK. I have had friends who've had both done with excellent results. Now with wavefront LASIK advancements, what else is on the horizon??? Are some stellar new techniques currently being developed that will roll out in the next 4-5 years? My eye doctor is suggesting PRK. Night vision problems could also end my career. I've heard there is less chance of reduced night vision (halos /startbursts) with PRK. The NAVY only allows PRK surgery for their pilots.
What happens if you develop a haze after Lasik surgery? on my last appointment with my eye doctor, he said I had a small haze around the outer edges. I had Lasik in November. He said it wasn't something I would notice in vision and it might go away My question is: Will it go away? What causes Haze? Will it affect my vision?

LASIK Surgery Question: Is it Necessary to get the FREE lifetime consultation? The Lasik doctor I know says that one year should be enough for a Free lifetime consultation because of the ever-changing technology. With Lifetime consultation after the surgery, the doctor will probably start charging the patient when the technology used with the patient is no longer available.
I want to ask about the consequenses of Lasik operation on the eyes? I have lasik'ed my eyes about a month ago, but still, my right eye sees things in double, in a way that each thing (far or near) has a slight shadow to its right side). as the distance grows, so does the distance between the thing and its shadow. Is this condition temporary or constant? why has it happened (as it wasn't like this at the beginning) and does it require special concern or treatment?
Have you had a bad experience with LASIK surgery? I am quite near-sighted and have worn glasses (now contacts) since childhood. I had planned to get LASIK as soon as my Rx became stable. Recently I came across some Web sites made by LASIK "victims" who claim to have had some terrible, permanent side effects (dry eye, double vision). Anyone here had a similar experience, or know someone who has? Thanks Pedestal42, if you can give me a link to that study (or let me know who conducted and published it), that would be great.
what are some requirements to be a good candidate for lasik? my main question is the one in the title, but i do have a few others. is it possible to have a genetic problem with ur eyes where ur eyesight gets worse faster than a "normal person"? I am asking this question becuz i am 5 years younger than my brother and we both use the computer about the same number of hours a day (he might even use it more than me), but my eyesight is MUCH worse than his. wat is the recommended age to get lasik?
what is the difference between lasik and phacoemulsification? why is one not recommended to do phacoemulsification instead of lasik. that would solve all lens and number problems once and for all
Why do insurance companies not pay for Lasik Eye Surgery? Seems like they want people to go through the rest of your life wearing eye glasses or contact lens. There doesn't seem to be any real cure of people with poor eye sight. Their eye sight will always get worse. Is poor eye sight a condition that is not treatable? All the eye doctor does is get a person stronger glasses over their life time. If Lasik Eye Surgery is close to a cure for poor eye sight why doesn't the insurance companies approve of it?
What would happen to me if I had lasik to correct farsightedness? I have recently had cataract surgery and have a single focus lens implant. What would happen if I had lasik to correct for farsightedness on that eye? Would I be able to see both close up and distance again?
lasik eye surgery? So I've heard of lasik eye surgery for fixing your vision. I'm wondering because my mom told me that after you lasik eye surgery, and you don't protect your eyes you will still need to go back to wearing glasses. My lasik conundrum? My dry eye doctor is also a lasik surgeon, and he claims that I am perfectly eligible for no-blade lasik. Here’s why I’m skeptical: my scrimers score is 10 in my right eye, and 13 in my left. I have blepharitis which at this point is so bad I can’t wear contacts. My prescription is -7.25 in both eyes in my glasses. Considering that I have read that a year after Lasik, half of your corneal nerves are still ‘dead’, am I crazy to follow his advice and get lasik? Does the no-blade really make that much of a difference? He seems to think that once the blepharitis is under control, I should be fine for lasik, as long as my corneas are deep enough. Any professionals/people who have had no blade lasik have any input?
PSC Removal & LASIK Question? I'm a 24 y.o. male with Posterior Subcapsular Cataract removed and a ArcySof Toric IOL implanted in the left eye, and Tissue-Saving LASIK in the right done to compensate for the high myopia and Astigmatism difference between both eyes done. VA tests done showed the following: PRE-LASIK Right Eye: SPH: -8.25 CYL: -3.50 AXS: 5 (degree) POST-LASIK Right Eye: SPH: +0.25 CYL: -2.00 AXIS: 155 (degrees) Q: Is this a good outcome from the tissue-saving LASIK procedure? Would enhancement be likely required to achieve best glasses-free vision? POST AcrySof Toric IOL Left Eye: SPH: +1.25 CYL: Nil AXIS: Nil Q: Is this a good outcome for IOL implant? Why is distance vision still blurry (even the LASIK eye seems slightly better)? Would LASIK or any corrective procedure be required for this eye to achieve best glasses-free vision? Q: What does my post procedure eye prescription means? Am I farsighted in both eyes with astigmatism of -2.00 in the right (LASIK) eye as well? Please advise
Lasik or PRK surgery for contact sports? I've considered having Lasik surgery to correct my vision. When I went to an informaiton session they talked about Lasik and PRK. The doctors suggested PRK for people who do contact sports (I'm active in martial arts, boxing and hockey). They said that the flap from the Lasik surgery could be jarred lose in contact sports. Has anybody had this experience? Or have you had Lasik and still participate in contact sports with no problems?
Can Lasik be preformed after PRK? I had PRK 12 years ago, can I have LASIK now? I had corrective eye surgery in 1996. At the time it was PRK as Lasik was a brand new procedure. Since then my eyes have gotten worse so I really need glasses to drive. Since Lasik is now pretty reasonably priced. I was wondering if Lasik can be done over PRK? I was a very good candidate for the PRK back in the day with strong thick corneas, so I’m assuming they are still OK. Thanks! Jim J
glasses or lasik touch up? i had lasik surgery 2 and a half years ago and i had 20/20 vision after that. i just had my first eye exam after lasik last week and my optometrist said that my left eye is still 20/20 but my right is already 20/60 so i would need glasses to drive. i called the eye center where i had lasik and they wont do the touch up for free anymore since it more than 2 yrs ago. should i just get the glasses instead? will these prescription glasses correct my vision back to 20/20? or should i do the touch up? what is gonna happen after the touch up? i worry that i might be doing a touch up every 2-3 years and the eye center is charging 1800 per eye for the touch up-its like having lasik all over again! i paid 4800 for my lasik. can i have my touch up done in some place cheaper?
lasik eye surgery help? does anyone did lasik eye surgery in melbourne? does it safe? where did you do it? and how much?would it be good to do the lasik in hospital or eye centre? i checked from website which stated lasik is suitable for age after 18-21, but my friend told me it should be good to do it after 28 years old? can anyone give me some comment with it? I am 24 years old, female , just finish university.
Post-Pharco Cataract & LASIK? I had pharco cataract surgery 2 months ago for PSC with a AcrySof Toric IOL. My vision now is +1.25 with minimal Astigmatism at -0.50. My questions are: Would LASIK or Piggy-back IOL be recommended to correct my small amount of refractive error? Would the LASIK just correct my distant vision or would it also enable me to see near objects clearly as well? Just need to clarify since I know that with cataract surgery, my focusing ability is now gone, so would LASIK be advisable for just +1.25 of distant error if this is the case? Also, newer LASIK technology now enables Presbyopia to be corrected. Since Presbyopia is the degeneration of focusing ability of the eye on near objects, would such LASIK help the focusing ability of my IOL implanted eye in anyway? Or would I be able to only correct refractive error of one distant only, and will still need glasses for other distances? Thanks!
lasik treatment or any advanced give u r suggestions? I wear glasses for past 5 years. Is there any way to get rid of glass? My friend told me to go for lasik. I would like to know whether it can be cured without lasik by doing any natural exercise and food habits. Pls tell me which is advanced in lasik (zyoptix).what will be the cost for doing it. tell me approximately. If you tell that it can be cured naturally means pls tell me what type exercise and food habits which I should follow.
Lasik Eye Surgery !!!? I was wondering about lasik eye surgery, here are a couple of questions. >Im 19 years old, been wearing glasses for 10 years now and i havent needed a new prescription for 3 years now. Can i get Lasik done at this Age? >I am very sensitive when it comes with me eyes, i cant open my eyes under water, i cant put contacts in, i have put drops in once or twice but hate the feeling. Do you think i would be able to handle getting Lasik done.
Lasik vs. intralasik? My wife is contemplating getting lasik surgery. We were talking to the surgeon that her normal eye doctor recommended about doing the surgery. My wife read an article about “intralasik”, which apparently uses a laser to cut the flap rather than a machine. We asked the surgeon we had been talking to about intralasik, and he doesn’t do it. My wife is intent on doing intralasik rather then regular lasik, so we have been doing some research and the only place we could find in town that does it was a place called “Luna eye center”. It makes me nervous because they are always advertising discount rates for half the price that the other surgeon was going to charge. I have heard that you get what you pay for when it comes to lasik. Does using a better procedure make up for the fact that the doctor at a cut-rate eye center may not be as experienced as a pricier doctor? Just to summarize. Is the difference between lasik and intralasik big enough to justify going to a less reputable doctor in order to get intralasik vs. regular lasik at a more reputable doctor?
Lasik with blood vessels and -8.00 contact prescription? I am 23 years old and have been wearing contact lenses and glasses since I was in first grade (so since I was 6). My contact lens prescription is currently a -8.00 in both eyes. I'm going for my annual exam tomorrow to see if they've changed. I was going to ask the doctor about Lasik while I was there but I figured I'd ask for some information on here first. Is my prescription easily correctable or is it too severe to get 20/20 vision from Lasik? Also, I was told I have blood vessels growing onto my cornea from wearing my contact lenses for too long (I did this as a kid; since I found out it is detrimental to my eyes I've only worn my contacts for probably 5 hours everyday tops). Will this cause a problem with the Lasik procedure?
Lasik Eye Surgery? Has anyone had Lasik Eye Surgery? I've had glasses for about 10 years now, and i'm quite comfortable with them. I'd love to move on to contacts, but my mom and dad (my dad is an opthalmologist, an eye doctor) said i should just have Lasik done. My dad is friends with one of the top lasik people in the country that he'll take me to. Does anyone have any experience with this? Has anyone gotten the surgery done? I'm wondering what it's like, do you like it better than contacts? And did it hurt when they cut your eye open? Lol. Thanks! P.S. I don't think it's a very good idea, seeing as i'm only 18, but my dad says it doesn't really matter. I mean, i believe him somewhat (since he is an eye doctor, after all), but i'm sill not sure.
lasik vision correction? i will be getting the lasik vision correction done on wens. it costs a lot more than i expected. i will be getting the traditional lasik done and not the "custom lasik". can anyone tell me from experience if i should save and get the custom done or should just get it now with the traditional. i've heard that some people have had issues with headaches and nightvision problems... ?! i was so excited this morning, but now i'm a little skeptical!

Do you guys think that i still could have a good eyesight if another eye of my had sight problem after lasik? when i was child, my left eye was nearsight and right eye was good sight, so i could see cleary without glasses. therefore, I guess if i did one eye, even if it created problem after lasik, i still have another good eye to back up that i will not had bad sight after unsuccessful surgery. After 3 lasik custom vues, what are the chances PRK will fix the double vision that lasik caused? My astigmatism was the cause caused some distortions in my left eye. After seeing multiple doctors, Lasik Custom Vue appeared to be the best option. All doctors I saw said I was a candidate. After the 1st surgery from my referred 1st Doctor, the vision became blurry. The doctor seemed baffled, so I switch to a more reputable doctor. He proceeded to give me a surgery after an appointment with Stanford's University Director of Opthamology. Both agreed I could be operated on again. I didn't see much improved(from my perspective) The vision went to double accompanied by light sensitivity and blurriness. The doctors reviewed my post-op condition and agreed that another operation could help. After my 3rd surgery, The vision seemed equally bad and the double vision almost seemed like triple at some points. Now, the doctor says that the results from lasik aren't working and he thinks I should try PRK. I am worried that PRK won't be able to correct the double vision that Lasik created!!
How soon after Lasik can eyedrops be used? My wife just had lasik this afternoon and her eyes are very dry as was expected. I just need to know how soon eyedrops can be used after the lasik procedure. Thank you.

Can Lasik surgery cause cataracts or astigmatism? I had lasik about 2 years ago. It was great for about 6 weeks then starting degressing. I told the doctor and he kept saying wait....now he says I can't get the lasik redone, I have the start of a cataract and asigmatisim. Never had either of those before. Can lasik cause those?
Vision Standards for Infantry, Lasik in the Army? I already have an Infantry contract and ship out 2008 July 31. I am just curious to know what the minimum vision is for Infantry. I know the minimum for the military is -8.00 diopters to +8.00 diopters. I have pretty bad vision..Not that bad! Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what the minimum standards are for combat jobs like infantry? Also, any information about LASIK in the Army would be greatly appreciated. I plan on trying to get LASIK in the Army. For LASIK, do you just go to a regular LASIK surgeon and the Army pays for it, or do they have their own? What if you went to your own, to avoid waiting lists, would that get you in trouble, would you have to pay for it? How long do you think the waiting list for Infantry is to get LASIK, since I heard the waiting list differs depending on your MOS. I know thats a lot of questions but any help is greatly appreciated. And again, I was just curious about finding out the answers. God Bless our Troops.
Is LASIK for me with my condition? I know i should ask a doctor but i'm trying to just get a sense whether my condition is too bad for lasik based on any of your experiences. I have astigmatism...i have a -2 in my left which means it is a good candidate for lasik but my right eye has severe astigmatism with -5...so i was wondering if its possible to still get LASIK or maybe just special contact lenses I hate wearing glasses and im a risk taker.just want opinions THANKS!
better lasik plus centers of private practice? i went to see a private practice and i'm planning on getting my lasik surgery next friday, i cant decide if i can trust going to chains like lasik plus. they are a lot cheaper than going to a private practice. of course i know if i go to lasik plus for a consult, they'll say they're safe yada yada yada. help. don't know what to do if you can tell me the pros and cons for both private n plus center, that'll be great!!! Thanks in advance
Contacts or Lasik? Ok so I've been wearing glasses lately and for a while I just wore them to work or when I was using a computer or watching tv. My eye sight has gotten worse and I feel like I have to wear them all the time now and it really sucks. I get head aches if I don't wear them so it really isn't an option not to wear them even though I can still see pretty decently without them. I'm far sighted and I have a stigmatism in both my eyes. I thought about getting contacts and getting lasik and I want to get lasik! I'm thinking the cost of contacts will over time end up being the same as just getting the lasik done and then I won't have the hastle of putting contacts on and off each day! Am I correct or do you think I should just put up with contacts?
Astigmatism and Lasik? I have had the privilege of wearing glasses for almost 30 years because I was lucky enough to have astigmatism and near sightedness. Yeah!! <Hope you can read the sarcasm I wrote this with> I am seriously considering Lasik treatment to correct my vision. I am scheduled for a consult in a few weeks. A general search on line gives both all the wonder stories about how Lasik changed 'my life' and conversely how Lasik robbed 'me of my night vision.' I've read the theories and procedures and have a degree of comfort understanding them. My question is: Has anyone with astigmatism and nearsightedness had the procedure? What were the results? Do you regret it? Would you recommend it? Any and all thoughts would be greatly appreciated. It will be nice to read comments from 'real people' and not from company advertising. Thanks Scott (39 years old)
I HAD LASIK 10 DAYS AGO and my vision is STILL BLURRY? I am a little freaked out here so I am hoping to hear from others who have had LASIK. I use all the eye drops (Pred Forte and artificial tears), but my vision is still blurry although better than before. My up close vision is blurry too. So, has anyone had LASIK and had not so good results? Did you get better with time. I am scared. Please only reply if you have had LASIK. I have gone back to the doctor twice. They gave me more eyedrops and say "dry eye." I was told that some people take longer than others. Some see the next day. Some take 2-3 weeks. I don't have any halos. Just blurriness up close and far away. I was -3.00 in right eye and -3.75 in left eye. I was 20/200 before (I think). I've heard success stories from people with much worse vision than me.
Lasik Surgeon? I'm thinking about Lasik surgeon. Who are the good doctors for Lasik surgeon? How much does it cost for the surgeon? Thank you very much.
Lasik Surgery? I have a serious eye phobia but an considering Lasik surgery. Has anyone had Lasik done and what were your concerns before and after the procedure? And, are you glad you did it?
Lasik surgery through the military? I'm in the Navy, serving in the reserves. My vision is less than perfect. I want to get Lasik surgery. I've heard of the military giving Lasik surgery to soldiers going overseas. I've asked around at my local command but no one seems to know anything. Does anyone know where or how I can get the military to perforn the procedure? Thank you.
LASIK Sugery in Singapore? I am thinking of going for Lasik surgery, but not sure where to go. There's a few places that I know of. Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), Lasik Surgery Clinic at Paragon, and Mt. Elizabeth Medical Centre. Any recommandations on which one should I go to??
Lasik Surgery for a teenager? My son is 15 years old and his vision is bad, according to the Optometrist its getting worse by the year. He needs to wear his glasses 24/7. I had consider the lasik surgery for him but not sure how old you have to be in order to have lasik surgery or if his vision would get better. Any suggestions?

Which is safer? "Traditional" Lasik or All-Laser Lasik? I have been researching Lasik eye correction, and some sites say that all-Laser Lasik isn't good because it creates "cavitation" bubbles in the corneal flap to expose the cornea. Which is safer - the traditional method that removes the corneal flap with a blade, or the laser method? What (if any) are the long-term ramifications of all-laser? Are there any "starlight" or reduced night-vision issues with all-laser, over and above the normal Lasik issues?
Lasik or migraine? I had Lasik surgery 4 months ago. My vision (left eye) has regressed during the healing process and I plan to get an adjustment done in 2-3 months. My right eye is still 20/20 or close. I got temporary glasses to wear for driving. Yesterday my left eye got very blurry, as though my vision had gotten much worse very quickly. What I mean is that I wasn't seeing shadows, or ghosts...it just appeared that I needed stronger glasses. MUCH stronger. This lasted from about 5 pm (when I noticed it) till nearly midnight when I went to sleep. When I woke up, my vision was back to "normal." (R-20/20 and L-20/60) I called my eye dr who told me he thinks I suffered an "opthalmic migraine." I've had migraines before and have had the visual side effects, such as white spots, a blind spot, stars and such. But they never last long -- certainly not 6 hours or more. Any thoughts? Anyone experienced something similar? My eye doc doesn't think it's lasik related, but I'm not sure.
Lasik eye surgery? Im getting lasik on my eyes this sat for $3100. Im 29 and my vision has been stable for 2 years now. Doctor says I have large pupils. My prescription is -5.5 diopters for my right eye and -5.0 diopters for my left eye.Has anybody had lasik done? How long ago? Cost? Any complications? How well can you see?
What are the post lasik results of people who had pre lasik scripts of more than -6.00? I recently had Lasik a week ago with a a pre-lasik prescription of -6.5 to -7.00 with astigmatism. I would like to know of the experiences/results of people who have had the procedure done, with a similar pre-script grade like mine. I am currently still experiencing haloes, reduction in visual sharpness (blurriness) in low light areas & close up, & occasionally distance reading. I would like to know how long it took for others to recover, or if they have needed retreatment post lasik?
Lasik Eye Surgery? Do you need to be a certain age to get Lasik? And around how much does it cost? And where are some good places to get Lasik? Yes people I am only 16 but i have already tried contacts as well as glasses and my mom wanted me to find out more about lasik because contacts are ruining my left eye and im practically going blind in that eye, not from not taking care of my contacts because i have had contacts since i was in 6 years now but the optometrist said one of my eyes is not good for contacts.
Lasik Eye Surgery Info - Anyone Need Lasik? this site has good info on Lasik Eye Surgery http://lasikeyesurgeryinformation.blogspot.com/
Lasik before or after cruize?? I am planning on having lasik done in may and then going on a cruize in June. Should I wait untill after the cruize to have lasik done or is it alright to do it before hand??? Anybody know??
Lasik results not optimal, need advice? I had Lasik surgery 5 months ago. My right eye was corrected for distance and my left eye for reading. Vision has stabilized with the following attributes: Vision good most of the time but by the end of the day, my eyes are a litle tired and distance vision is a bit blurry--in addition to this, there sometimes appears to be competiton between my eyes for focus (again only at the end of the day). Is this a common problem? What should I do--should I have the left eye re-corrected for distance? Lasik dr suggested glasses but that would obvioulsy be a last resort that I would hope to avoid
Lasik Eye Surgery (halos around light)? I had standard lasik eyes surgery a week ago. I am doing good, but I see halos at night around the lights and it really gets to me. My doctor said they would go away in time. I was wondering if anyone else had the experience with lasik and if so how long before the halos go away. thanks
Lasik eye surgery? I had lasik done in 1999, and I have a permanent side effect called star bursts (i.e. halos around lights, mainly at night or in low light conditions). If I have lasik done again in the future, is there a possibility that this side effect could be correct?
