Eye Surgery? I'm thinking about eye muscle surgery but I don't have health insurance. What are the costs of this procedure without insurance and what kind of health insurance am I looking at to cover it?
LASIK Eye Surgery and than becoming a pilot ? Hi guys, My eye vision is 2.25 L and 2.00R. I would like to do this Lasik eye Surgery so than I can see everything without needing a specs. My question is, is this possible to do and can I still become a Pilot or will I have problems later in Life ? Thanks.
Is laser eye surgery worth the risk if it means I can fly? I want to be a pilot in the air force more than anything. I heard that they allow laser eye surgery in some situations. My vision is 20/60 correctable to 20/10. If I should be so lucky as to get the opportunity..is laser eye surgery worth it? I don't want to ruin my life with a mistake..but I don't want live my life with regret either...
What is the best lasik eye surgery to get? When it comes to things like this I am pretty ignorant. I hear that there are two new methods out there for lasik eye surgery. Can I please get some feedback in regards to which procedure is the best and why! Thanks!
What Homeopathic remedy is good for eye surgery? My mother in law just had laser eye surgery and I wonder if I have anything in my not-medicine chest that might help her. How about Arnica or Silica? Any suggestions? Thanks for the answers so far, but I am not going to put anything in the eyes, nor am I looking to use herbs. I'm just wondering about homeopathy. Arnica and Silica are good for many things, not just the most popular uses. Thanks!
What are the long terms side effects of laser eye surgery? I am interested in having laser eye surgery to correct short sight but I am concerned about the longer term side effects as I get older. I can't find much information about this subject on the web so I would be really interested to find out.
How old should you be to get Lasik Eye surgery done? I am 20 years old. I've had glasses since i was about 16 or 17. I am seriously looking into Lasik eye surgery because i hate wearing my glasses ( i am near sighted) Recently it seems as though my eyes have gotten worse. My glasses work fine when i have them on, but i've been noticing that when i dont wear them, its getting harder & harder to see things i once could. Question is, how old are you supposed to be to get this done? If i get it done now, and say a year or two down the road it starts getting worse again do they do 'free touch ups?' Also, if anyone knows, how does sitting in front of a computer affect your eyes? I'm a writer, so i spend plenty of time in front of the screen. Thanks! Also, how do i find a Lasik eye specialist near me..and how do i know they are legit & safe?
Can laser eye surgery correct myopia aka near sightedness? Can laser eye surgery correct myopia aka near sightedness? Does laser eye surgery last forever? What if you have big holes in your retina from myopia? Can laser eye surgery improve my myopia? Can myopic people have this laser surgery? Is there a risk for going blind from laser eye surgery? If you do go blind for laser eye surgery is it true that it can be corrected?
How can I fix my vision without LASIK eye surgery, contacts or glasses? Within the past 6 months my vision has gone from 20/20 in boths eyes to 20/70 in the right eye and 20/110 in the left eye. I visited the optometrist and they told me i should get glasses. I was wondering if I can avoid surgery and corrective lenses by eating certain foods or doing certain eye exercises. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Why did LeBron James go all the way to California to have eye surgery ? I read in the the Cleveland Plain Dealer online recently, that Le Bron had Lasik eye surgery in California. Does anyone know why he didn't go to the Cleveland Clinic to have it done? I have been to the CC many times for a foot problem, & they have the greatest doctors there in all fields of medicine, in my opinion.
How does one perform laser eye surgery? I've found all the tools necessary around the house and eager to try it out. I'm unsure if the patient has to be sedated, as I have seen the surgery performed on television and they were wide awake. To get the eye prepared for surgery I will first tap on the cornea with a small piece of a gumdrop (peppermint) attached to a nail file. After this though, I am pretty much lost and would love some help!
Is there a way to improve eyesight naturally? And is Lasik eye surgery available for people with astigamatism? I'm 20 years old and my eyesight is really bad (probably from all the years of video games, tv, and surfing the internet). I've decided to limit my time spent on these activities, but what I want to know is if there's a way to improve your eyesight without the use of glasses or contacts? Also, I've heard from someone that people with astigmatism can't get that eye restoration surgery. Is that true? Not that I can afford it right now anyway, I just want to know my options later on.
Has anyone had the eye surgery to take out floaters and afterwards your vision is distorted & lite sensitive? I need to know if someone has had distorted vision and/or light really hurting your eyes after the surgery. If you have, what is it called and can an eye doctor fix it? I can't work, because I can't see. The eye doctors say they can't find anything in my eyes that are causing it? It seems doctors stick together on these things. Please help. Thank you I am very nearsighted, legally blind, i had the surgery to take out the floaters. Now my vision is distorted, like looking in a funhouse mirror, plus my eyes are so sensitive to light that I need to wear sunglasses. But they cut down my vision, so I can't do that. I'm 47 and a single mom. I can't work. It's awful. Has anyone had any bad results from the surgery that removes the floaters?
Is it normal to see floaters after eye surgery? Recently, my optometrist found a tear on my retina and advised me to have eye surgery. She mentioned something about lattice?? Anyways, she said that the surgery will repair the tear and eliminate floaters. Before surgery, I rarely saw floaters; now, I constantly see 3! Is this normal?
Can your vision still get worse after laser eye surgery? After you receive laser eye surgery, can your vision still get worse? I've been wearing glasses for years and im only 18, andit seems like i keep having to get stronger prescrption, so i was wondering if it would be sort of A CURE-ALL?
can i get eye surgery to become a military pilot? i wish to become a helicopter/fixed wing pilot/navigator. 1) is it true that any kind of corrective eye surgery disqualifies you? even for US Army helicopter pilot? 2) which one would be a better choice? rotary wing or fixed wing? 3) whats the process to becoming a flight officer? i want to go through the ROTC program during college thank you for all answers! which service should i fly with if i could choose?
What does the future hold for LASIK eye surgery? I'm going to school to become a commercial pilot. Obviously my career depends on being able to see 20/20 with or without correction (I'm 20/200 without contacts, slight astigmatism). I'm 30 years now but have considered eye surgery my entire life. (even RK back in the day). Obviously technology has improved by leaps and bounds. When LASIK rolled out I thought how could it get better than this? My best friend is a MD and he told me to hold off for a few years (this was 4-5 years ago) and now we have custom wavefront LASIK. I have had friends who've had both done with excellent results. Now with wavefront LASIK advancements, what else is on the horizon??? Are some stellar new techniques currently being developed that will roll out in the next 4-5 years? My eye doctor is suggesting PRK. Night vision problems could also end my career. I've heard there is less chance of reduced night vision (halos /startbursts) with PRK. The NAVY only allows PRK surgery for their pilots.
what do you see when you have laser eye surgery? People at the office told me it is a little green dot to stare at and keep your eye from moving that much and there is a little ticking sound... I have heard different numbers for how long it is. I'm having surgery on the 22nd, that stuff is expensive!
I feel like my vision is dimming one year after my laser eye surgery? I've haven't gone to the optomologist since I had laser eye surgery last year, but now, I kinda get the feeling that my vision is dimming. Is it just because I've gotten use to having a perfect vision and I still want more? I don't have problem seeing or anything, it's just a feeling. Has anyone else experience that?
What can be done for pain from eye surgery? My 7 year old son had eye surgery today and I was instructed to give him tylenol or motrin for pain, but 2 hours later he is saying his eyes hurt. Should I apply warm or cold compresses? I am just asking for temporary advice from people who really know what to do. I will call tomorrow to find out what to do. Thanks in advance!
Why do insurance companies not pay for Lasik Eye Surgery? Seems like they want people to go through the rest of your life wearing eye glasses or contact lens. There doesn't seem to be any real cure of people with poor eye sight. Their eye sight will always get worse. Is poor eye sight a condition that is not treatable? All the eye doctor does is get a person stronger glasses over their life time. If Lasik Eye Surgery is close to a cure for poor eye sight why doesn't the insurance companies approve of it?
If you get contacts can u get laser eye surgery? I have glasses but i want contacts because i don't really like glasses and i hate the suntan line. My mom told me that if you get contacts you can't do laser eye surgery because contacts will make your eye worse. Is this true?
How old do you have to be to get Lasik Eye Surgery? I'm currently 14 but turning 15 in September. Is it possible for me to get eye surgery to make my vision better? I have HORRIBLE vision without my contacts or glasses. Everything is a blur it's hard for me to see anything. I live in California if that matters.
Working on the computer after laser eye surgery? I just got PKR eye surgery. It is a different procedure than Lasek surgery but same outcome. I got it a week ago and am now back to work. I work at the computer all day. Is this bad for my eyes?
Is eye surgery really all that? I'm planning on getting eye surgery in four more years. (When I am 18) I currently have glasses, but I find them quite disturbing. If I remove my glasses I can't see a clear image. It's very blurry. Well anyways.. Do you think eye surgery would be a good idea, would it make my site much better? I'm worried that they might accedently blind me... is that possible? Thank you.
what age is lasik eye surgery reccomended ? im 19 , i heared positive feedback about lasik eye surgery i asked 2 good doctors they told me if your 18+ its okay and there will be no complications ,, the next day i read in an article that it is recommended for 30-40 years old ! what do you think ?
Does anyone know any program that can help my boyfriend to get his eye surgery? My boyfriend has what you call a Karaconus, where his cornea is getting small. He needs to get a surgery and we've tried to get help thru medical but they've rejected him because they dont cover that, and the ridiculous thing about it is they consider getting an eye surgery as a privilege, anyways, we tried getting him insurance and they rejected him too. So, is there anyone out there that knows any program that can help....Thank you!
Can I get laser eye surgery in one eye? Hi. My vision in one eye is good. Like 20/30 i think. But my other eye is bad. I have to get different contacts for each eye, and my eye glasses are different of each side. I want laser eye surgery. But I only want it for my bad eye. Mainly to save money, and the other reason is because I don't feel that I need it for the other eye. What do you think. Is this possible, can it be done?
Eye surgery? I hope to join the Army, and I need corrective eye surgery. I have heard horror stories about lasik, and want to know the safest, and most painless way to get your eyes corrected. Remember it is 2008. I really prefer having a healed cornea.

I have been thinking to opt for Laser eye surgery to help improve my eyesight. Please i need advice.? i have been wearing glasses since 3rd grade and my vision keeps detriorating every year. now thanks to god it is finally settled. I want to go for laser eye surgery to remove glasses. i need advice form people who have gone through same surgery as i have heard rumours of loss of sight, vision blurred etc. and i am very anxious. Please tell me what is the surgery like, is it painful? does your vision gets blurred or lost after some time? help.
Eye surgery? Hello I’m 26 and I wear eyeglasses & sometimes contacts. My eye vision is 450/20 in my left & I think 300/20 in my right. Last year I went to have lasik eye surgery but my left eye was not stable. I decide to not get the procedure done. I’m thinking about have it done this year that’s if my eye is stable. I was told that my eyesight would be around 25/20. I’m looking at the “NOW” picture which is that I don’t have to wear glasses. But for the long run: Will I have to have the surgery again, is it possible to wear contact if need afterwards, could I go blind or have double vision? What is your input?
Eye surgery? My eyes are always red, and they seem to become really bothered after I've been awake for quite some time.. I went to an eye doctor and they said it was the tear glands, or something of the sort, was closed shut making it so my eyes didn't moisturize themselves causing my eyes to become red. But then I went to a regular doctor and they said it could be eye allergies.. And I've tried the drops they proscribed and it didn't help anything.. I was just wondering if anyone has had the same problem and knows any type of information on the subject of eye surgery for opening tear pores, I guess? Any info would be HIGHLY appreciated.

ultralase laser eye surgery at 18 years old? Hi, My eyesight is -1.25 in both eyes (I have trouble reading things in the distance) How does laser eye surgery work? does it burn a layer off the eye? and if so, what makes this layer form? I don't really know alot about eyes or laser eye surgery but if anyone has had laser eye surgery, how benifical was it and what do they do? ie how does the surgery work? And after the surgery, will the eyes get worse again. If anyone has any knowlege on laser eye surgery please let me know, thanks x
Lazy eye surgery? I'm in my early twenties and my eyes don't work together. I was crossed eyes as a young kid...actually one y/o. I had surgery and patches which corrected the crossness of my eyes (originally they were both looking toward my nose). But neither treatments aligned my eyes together to work together. The doctor wanted to do another surgery after the initial one and patches, but I never had that done. Do you think that was to fix the actual alignment? Anyway, if I am looking straight ahead the eyes look aligned together and I can see with binocular vision. But if I look right or left only one eye turns...and like I can actually SEE myself looking straight with one eye and to the left/right with the other. I can control movement of my eyes so they don't "drift" off randomly though...but I'll still be looking straight with one and the side with the other. I'm soo self conscious about it...I heard of adults getting alignment surgery...does it work well? Will it fix alignment of my eyes so that they work together and move in the same direction/same time?
Lazy eye surgery?? In my early twenties now, I had 'crossed-eyes' when I was almost one year old. I had a surgery and patches to correct it. Now my eyes turn away to the side sometimes on their own. And they don't move "together," either. Like my left eye goes left if I look that way, but my right eye will remain straight...or go in the left DIRECTION slightly, but not moving with my left. I think one eye's muscles are weaker than the other. Or maybe they're both as strong/weak equally, and the problem is they aren't ALIGNED together? Would I need a eye muscle strengthening surgery or an eye alignment surgery? By the way, I have no clue if these exists...I'm just giving it my own name, ha ha. And anyway know what the recovery time is like? Is it out patient under a general or local? How "normal" will my eyes look afterwards? Will I need to wear a patch afterwards or no? AND will my insurance cover the cost? THANK YOU SO MUCH!
strabismus (lazy eye) surgery? I had strabismus surgery around age 5 for a slight outward eye turn. The prodedure made my eyes worse. Now my eye turns inward. It alternates between both my eyes. I can choose which eye I want to use and the opposite eye turns in. When I'm tired or stressed out, the eye turn gets worse. My question is if it's worth getting the surgery again? How will the doctor know how much muscle to cut because there is always a fluctuation in how severe my eye is turning in? I'm 23 now, has there been dramatic improvements to strabismus surgery in the last 17 years? I'm just very skeptical on getting it done because one surgery has already made it worse. Thanks for your advice.

But just naturally, my one eye will be looking straight and the other will look left/right...but I CAN control when it moves..
Laser Lasik Eye Surgery long term effects? I have been thinking about going for Laser eye surgery, my vision is like 4 and 4.50. I used to wear contacts all the time, until my eyes got very dry and now I can't even wear a contact in my right eye - it hurts when I am taking it out and the contact stuck to my eye. I would like to know if there are any long term bad effects after Laser eye surgery, e.g. will my vision worsen in the future as I'm now only 24, and what happens if I suffer cataracts when I'm old? Am I still able to have another eye surgery to fix that problem? Also, has anyone had such a problem with contacts being stuck to the eye and being very painful to remove?? I mentioned it to my optometrist and she said my right eye was severely dry. But even after resting my eyes by not wearing contacts & wearing only glasses for a few months, when I tried wearing my contacts again, I could hardly wear it in my right eye for more than 1 hr. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Got eye surgery? Ptosis, possible sunken eye.? since birth, I have had, what I thought was ptosis. It wasn't very noticeable at first, but it has gotten worse. I went to an eye specialist when I was 6(twelve years ago) and he diagnosed me with ptosis, of course. Upon going to a cosmetic surgeon last month, he informed me that I didn't have ptosis, but infact, had a sunken eye. I was told that a surgery involving a spacer behind my eye would be the only real fix. My question is, is this dangerous? I've heard that some people weren't able to close their eye after this surgery! I've heard quite a few horror stories. Has anyone had this surgery? is it worth it? Would a cosmetic surgery be better? Sorry to drudge on, but I'm quite scared. Thank you.

Dry eyes and laser eye surgery? I would LOVE to have laser eye surgery, but I have very dry eyes. I have heard that one should not get laser eye surgery if they have dry eyes because the surgery only makes them drier. Is that the case? Could anyone please give me examples if you have had it yourself or your experience with the surgery?
Artifical eye surgery in India? I have lost vision in one eye (Left) when I was one year old due to an accident. My second eye (Right) is healthy. At this moment Black part of my left eye (Cornea) becomes white. Is there any surgery or any other way to make this eye as normal eye (at- least by look)… Well i have very exiciting this on Internet (http://www.allartificialeyes.com/artservices.html)--> Custom Acrylic Prosthetic Eyes Any idea wheter this type surgery is possible in India Regards
How much does eye surgery for a dog usually cost? If your dog had any type of eye surgery, how much was it? My puppy has a left eye that crosses. We took it to a opthamologist for animals and she said that it is basically a cosmetic problem. It's not Collie eye but it is a Sheltie. It can see out of the eye but naturally, it's vision is a bit impaired to the left side. She said there is a surgery that they can do when it's 6 months but it may or may not work. The pup is really beautiful but the eye does make it look goofy (sad but true!). I'd also love for it to do agility but I'm afraid that it'll run into obstacles or fall of the dogs walk or something with it's vision being impaired like that. I love the puppy no matter what but I do want it to have the surgery. How much do you think it'd cost including anethesia? If you had a dog that had ANY kind of eye surgery, roughly how much was it? What would you do? Thanks for any advice or information.
laser eye surgery question? I have very bad eyesight right now (my contacts are 3.25 and 4.50 diopters for my right and left eyes, respectively, and I think the diopters for my glasses are even worse). I want to get laser eye surgery in the future (I'm not eligible now because I barely turned 17 a month ago). I was just wondering how long should I wait to get the surgery, what condition my eyes need to be in to qualify for surgery, and how much should a good surgery cost?
eye surgery and sky diving? I am 21 years old and at 18 years old i had my retina detach. they fixed by placing a sclera buckle around my eye, as well as gas to repair the retina. I have also had cataract surgery, and a vitrectomy of the eye to get rid of constant floaters. I will also have a surgery to fix the tear duct in the eye... Ok so does anyone who has had some of the these surgerys know if i can go skydiving? or what i cant do now that i have had these surgeries? I have tried calling my doctor, but they wont return my calls. I wil keep trying if no one answers this!!!
Lasik, eye surgery, where is it cheaper? Hi all, I was thinking about doing the eye surgery, Lasik, and I was wondering if there is a place where I could have it cheaper. My myopia is -2.50 for both eyes, and I have a small -0.25 astigmatism at the right eye. My eyes are blue and pretty sensible, the best price I could get was around 1500 euros (1000 pounds). I actually here in the US and I saw surgery for 250pounds, but I a bit sceptical about doing it in a rush. Do you know if it's possible to have this kind of surgery for a "reasonable" price. I mean cheaper, 1000 pounds is a bit heavy for my finance, and I'd really enjoy to get rid of my glasses, I had to wear it my all life.. Thanks for reading!
Lasik Eye Surgery? My eyes are awful... one is -9.25 and the other is -7.25, I also have astigmatism. My eye doctor told me a few years ago my eyes were too bad to have lasik surgery done but he could insert a lens into my eye (kind of the way they do cataracts? from what I understood). Has anyone ever had this surgery done? Is any surgery able to correct my awful vision?
How Can Laser Eye Surgery Help With Someone Who Has Amblyopia ? I am an adult that has Amblyopia,(was not correct as a child) as far as I was aware, nothing can be done to make the eye better after the age of 8. I looked into having some laser eye surgery a few years ago,& was told that I am not suitable. Now I am getting conflicting information. I have since found out that a company would do the treatment, I have also recently been back to the first company that I asked and they say I am not suitable. I am confused, how can any eye surgery make a bad eye see clearly again ?. Amblyopia is when the eye decides to switch off from the brain at an early age because the signal from the brain to that eye are not the same as the other eye. I dont need to know anymore about the condition. Just, how are these surgeons claiming that the sight can be restored (if it was never there). I am very longsighted, my good eye is +5.00, and I couldnt tell you what the bad eye is, there is some slight vision(not blurred but like double). Thanks
can LASIK eye surgery treat lazy eyes? i have a lazy eye. just my left eye. im wearing contact lenses and sometimes glasses. however i want my eyesight to improve without wearing either contacts or eyeglasses. ive heard of lasik eye surgery and as per my doctor it isnt advisable. do you think lasik eye surgery would still work even for lazy eyes?
Candians: Lasik Eye Surgery? If you're Canadian, where did you get your lasik eye surgery done at? Which doctor? How long did it take you to go under the light? (Like, how long did it take when you first decided you wanted to go and get the surgery done?) I am native american, I have a tax card. I hear it is $400 a eye down here in Nova Scotia.. Did it sting alot? If so, how long? Is there anybody out there whose eyes got f'd up after lasik eye surgery? Share your stuff.
Cosmetic eye surgery? Is there a cosmetic eye surgery (not a brow lift), that doesn't involve taking fat out of the top of the eye? I just want to have wider eyes, is there a surgery that can just make eyes bigger without taking fat out? Thanks, I'll choose a best answer!
Eye surgery and eye replacement.? Can an eye be removed and replaced (by an eye of a different person) and can the new eye function as normal? If not, is it probable to have this type of surgery in the near future? (This is a hypothetical question. I'm just perplexed as to whether is had, or could, ever happen.)
Laser eye surgery??? Would it be bad if I got laser eye surgery??? I am 17 but the last time I went to the eye doctor my prescription didn't change so do you think I would be able to get eye surgery??? (I know people usually wait til their early 20s to get it but a friend of mine who's my age is able to get it since her eyes have finished developing). Thoughts on this???
Should I wait to get laser eye surgery until after pregnancy? I'm 23 and I don't plan on getting pregnant for a good ten years. I've heard that your eyes can change during pregnancy. So the question really is - if I get pregnant and my eyes change, can I get the surgery again? I have an astigmatism and I'm afraid that if I wait too long to get the surgery done, my astigmatism will become worse and inoperable. Any suggestions?
laser eye surgery? I dont have the best eyes in the world. I think my perscription is 4.25 and 4.50. I also have Amblyopia lazy eye. I'm 20 years ol;d and I have allways hated wearing glasses.
