Eye Surgery Risks Knowledge Base
Laser eye surgery, risks/pros & cons of. Please read all of this so I can get the best info.? I have trifocal vision, an astigmatism, am nearsighted, 55 yrs. old, and fed up with glasses. I talked with someone who said it's not guaranteed I'll have normal vision after the procedure, and still might have to wear glasses of some sort. Only for reading I could deal with but not glasses I'd have to wear all the time. It would defeat the purpose. I will research this more, yet hoped for input from someone who's had laser surgery with vision simular or the same as (trifocal) mine. From the horses mouth so to speak. Are there any optometrists who might be online who can advise? Knowledgeable or experienced answers please. Thanks!!!

Is laser eye surgery worth the risk if it means I can fly? I want to be a pilot in the air force more than anything. I heard that they allow laser eye surgery in some situations. My vision is 20/60 correctable to 20/10. If I should be so lucky as to get the opportunity..is laser eye surgery worth it? I don't want to ruin my life with a mistake..but I don't want live my life with regret either...
My male cocker spaniel has cherry eye and is getting surgery at 12 weeks, anesthesia risks? My cocker has been dealing with an awful looking cherry eye for 2 weeks and vet has decided to fix. What are the risks involved with the anesthesia? Could a male be fixed this early? Or would I have to wait until things have dropped? The vet does not want to wait any longer, the eye is becoming irritated and bleeding. 3 months is a long time for him to just live with this.
is laser eye surgery dangerous? has anyone here done it? should i do it? what are the risks? what should be the reason for doing it and for not doing it? i want to do it because i am kind of blind (but won't get any worse, most likely), 18 (old enough), and spending money on contacts and glasses. i don't really like wearing glasses because they bother my nose (all glasses do that) and are prone to getting knocked off when playing sports. also, they get wet in the rain. i just feel more free with contacts but in the long run getting surgery will save money and i wouldn't have to worry about the harms contacts can do to my eyes. i wore contacts for two years and finally they are doing good to my eyes. but is the surgery risky and worth it? has it become safer over the years? i just don't want to loose my eye sight or make it worse.
Can laser eye surgery correct myopia aka near sightedness? Can laser eye surgery correct myopia aka near sightedness? Does laser eye surgery last forever? What if you have big holes in your retina from myopia? Can laser eye surgery improve my myopia? Can myopic people have this laser surgery? Is there a risk for going blind from laser eye surgery? If you do go blind for laser eye surgery is it true that it can be corrected?
Is corrective eye surgery totally safe? Ive been weraing glasses since i was about nine, and now i'm 19. I've been thinking of getting surgery to have my eyesight corrected when i get a job after college. Are there any sort of risks involving eye surgery? Are there negative after effects?
Can anyone give me some idea of the cost of Laser Eye Surgery in the UK please.I have short sighted vision? Have been wearing contact lenses for some years now, & when Laser Eye Surgery was carried out in this country i said to myself that i would wait some years to ensure that there were as fewer risks as possible.I realise people will not know the exact price for this as it depends on the individuals eye's etc.I just wondered if there was much difference in the prices now that there are more places carrying out this procedure, thanks.
Should I get LASIK/LASEK laser eye surgery? I am joining the military, should I get laser eye surgery or not risk it? Since I would be issued goggles, ballistic goggles, sunglasses etc, is this defeating the object and regretably so? Thanks
I have astigmatism, can I get lasik eye surgery? How old do you have to be? What other alternatives are there, besides glasses, contacts, and lasik eye surgery? I'd like something permanant. How long does it take for it to heal? Are there serious risks during the procedure? If I can't get lasik eye surgery done, what's the problem? Sorry about all the questions, feel free to give me as much information as you can because I'm pretty sure I'm missing something that I'll want to know later . .
Lasik surgery? Risks? Benefits? I've been looking into Lasik eye surgery to correct my vision. I'd like to know the average cost for this procedure. I'd also like to know risks, benefits, etc. The more info, the better. Thanks.

is eye laser surgery worth the risk? I am very very very short-sighted and it always gets worse everytime I see the optician. I've heard mixed things about eye laser surgery; do the pros outweigh the cons or what?
Has anyone had the Lasik laser eye surgery? My husband really wants to get it, I'm against it for myself. The thought of someone messing around with my eyes gives me the creeps and I wouldn't want to risk it. How did your surgery turn out, was it worth the cost?
Can I get laser eye surgery? I'm not old enough to get laser eye surgery yet, but I have really bad vision and want to get it in the future. Currently, My eyes are around -10.00 in each eye, and I want to know whether or not it's possible to correct this. Also, wanted to ask, can I wear contact lenses while swimming while wearing goggles? It's just a short 50m trial. I'll throw them out afterwards, but is there any risk to my eyes?
Should i get the eye surgery? hi in 16 (almost 17) years old and im 20/300 is that sorta normal lol...because im like the only person with glasses in my school. Ive been wondering if i should i get the sugery in 2 years but i hear that there is alot of risks like permanent dry eye ect but is that like 1 in a 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 chances for something to go wrong or more common?
Laser eye surgery to correct vision? Has anyone had this done? My eyes are -4.25 in one eye and -4.75 in the other. I heard that laser surgery may not be completely successful because my vision is pretty bad. Is this true? Is there much of a risk involved in the surgery itself?
Laser eye surgery? Are there any risks of to laser eye surgery? Also how much does it cost? How old do you have to be to have it?
Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of lasik eye surgery...Is there any one whose had it and your experience. I've been wearing contacts for about 12 years now and i've noticed my eyesight is deteroriating every year..My doctor said after 25 it will start to slow down. Now i'm wearing glasses more because i believe my contacts have alot to do with my poor vision and the decline in my vision. Is there anyone who has researched lasik surgery and/or has had it that can tell me the risk involved, advantages and difference it's made with their vision. I've spoken to my optomitirist and he states it's realtivly safe with very few side effects except for blurred vision at night. I'm very very farsighted and i basicly need glasses/contacts to see not just read. Any advice or info will be appreciated.
Is there a eye doctor/surgeon here?I have some questions about the "permanent contacts" surgery.? Ok I was thinking about getting eye surgery to correct my vision when I turn 21.I recently saw on the internet about a surgery that the surgeons put on you permanent contacts and that it is more efficiant than Laser eye sugery.I already know about the perocedures and the risks but I still have some questions. Here they are: 1.How long is the recovery time after you get out of the hospital on the same day? 2.Can I have the surgery under anesthesia?I am extremely squeamish and I move alot and I think that its better that Im fully asleep. 3.The most important question of all(for me anyways):What color are the contacts? Are they clear or do they come in colors too?It would be great if they came in color.Ive always wanted to change my eyecolor permanently;well lots of people want to too. Well thats all.I really need those answers, especially for #2 & #3.Its very important to me.Thank you for your time. You can also write to me at chichithewhitetiger@gmail.com
Would you recommend laser eye surgery? Although I need to wait a bit longer for my steady 4 year prescription, I was wondering if the risks were worth it. Apparantly it is about 98% success rate.

I Want Laser Eye Surgery!? First of all, Iam going to be 16 years old in 1 month, Iam wondering if it is legal to have laser eye surgery for my age since my eys are realy bad and without glasses i cant see within a meter clearly? So what is the legal age to have a laser eye surgery in Canada, Ontario, Toronto? Whats the Risk's? Can i go blind if something goes wrong in the operation? Whats the cost in Ontario, Toronto? Is it painfull afterwards or uncomfortable? will i need drops?? also i heard if i get a laser eye surgery, i have to get one every year is the true or false? ps- Iam learning to be a pilot and with glasses i cant fulfill my dreams.. I also play sports, and been boxing since i was 12 thats another reason why i wanted to get an eye surgery so badly, do i still quilify?
Lasik/Laser eye surgery? I have read a few questions and answers. I am aware of prices and risks. Can anyone who has had this surgery tell me about the prep before the surgery. Someone said he had to wear his glasses for a few weeks right before he had it done. And any other side effects other than the halo light? Also, I read a few people said about only getting 1 eye done so they could read...I don't understand this? Why only 1 eye, wouldn't it be blurry trying to see like that? I know when I have 1 contact out it is not that easy to see. But, anyways, I'd appreciate some opinions and feedback! Thanks! Prep
Eye infection after cataract surgery needs another surgery now, please only professional answers. Thank you? My mother got a persistent eye infection after cataract surgery. She was treated several times with antibiotics and drainage of the tear duct several times. She ended up with a severe eye infection that required her to be admitted to the hospital with IV antibiotics and steroids for the inflamation. Now she is home on po antibiotics and the plan is to have a surgery in 2 weeks to remove the tear duct (?). Not sure of the type of surgery as she is older and cannot explain to me. As I live in another country I worry how serious the surgery may be and what it entails. She mentioned general anesthesia.... Anyone knows the name of this surgery, the risks and the recovery afterwards? Will she need someone with her all the time? If you are not familiar please refrain from answering, only professional and educated replies please as I need to decide whether to fly and stay with her for awhile Thank you in advance

Laser Eye Surgery? I have been wearing glasses/contacts since i was 10, I am now 20 and am considering laser eye surgery. My perscription worsened but has been the same for about five years now. What are the risks?
Corrective laser eye surgery - yay or nay? It seems to have come down alot in price. Do you know someone who's had it done and would recommend it for someone with -1.5 each eye? What are the perceived risks and disadvantages?
Spay at 4 months with already scheduled cherry eye surgery? My bulldog has two cherry eyes and we are scheduling surgery for those to be repaired. I have spoken with several vets (more like 20) and half say one thing and half say the other as to spaying her at the same time. The first group says putting them under is very dangerous and so she should be spayed at the same time to avoid anesthesia in the future. The second group says 4 months is way too young to spay so she should have the cherry eye surgery now and the spay at 6 months. We don't have the option of postponing the eye surgery because we are having them tucked and those who know about that understand the risk of waiting--we've already waited a month for her second eye to 'pop'. So my question is, what would you do in this situation? I was under the impression the dangers of spaying under 6months is the risk of anesthesia.. so how does that make sense? When I asked the vets why they wouldn't spay at the same time, they said it was policy (thanks--sheesh!)
laser eye surgery, is it worth it? ok, i am turning 20 this month, and my eye sight is pretty bad and i would like to get rid of the nuisance of contact lenses and glasses. I am aware that laser eye surgery will correct my sight, and i can only do the surgery when im 21. I am not at all concerned about cost, all i am concerned about is the health and safety aspect, so when im 21, and do the surgery (the one with the latest methods and technology) will it get my eyesight to 20/20 perfect vision? are there any long term effects. sight defects??? will the surgery cause any chnages such as ruduction in colour or night sight or anything like that? basically is it worth the risk? thanks oh and i have very litrle astigmatism, will the surgery correct this??
LASEK eye surgery? i want to get laser eye surgery but my doc talked me out of it. he wears glasses but says theres too many variables/not worth the risk. anyone out there had it done? happy with the resulst?
