Lasik Eye Surgery?
Has anyone had Lasik Eye Surgery? I've had glasses for about 10 years now, and i'm quite comfortable with them. I'd love to move on to contacts, but my mom and dad (my dad is an opthalmologist, an eye doctor) said i should just have Lasik done. My dad is friends with one of the top lasik people in the country that he'll take me to. Does anyone have any experience with this? Has anyone gotten the surgery done? I'm wondering what it's like, do you like it better than contacts? And did it hurt when they cut your eye open? Lol. Thanks! P.S. I don't think it's a very good idea, seeing as i'm only 18, but my dad says it doesn't really matter. I mean, i believe him somewhat (since he is an eye doctor, after all), but i'm sill not sure.

- Lasik hurts like hell when it's being done. But well worth it in the end!
- If ur dad is a professional eye doctor go ahead and do it. My math teacher once brought in a video showin how they did Lasik surgery on her and it was cool. Seeing is believing, unfortunately my vision cannot see very far curse the nearsighted disease!. =(
- i know someone who has had that done i think they had that done well they had something like that done see they had a straight eye and a crukid eye so they got the crukid eye fixed they still where glasses hes only like 15 16 yrs old so if you want to do it then do it if you like the way glasses and contacts look on you keep them i am supposed to wear glasses but they dont look right on me plus im nearsighted it sucks o well some people they do other they dont but the fun thing about contacts you can change your eye color and wear cool looking stuff in your eyes that could be fun lol well peace out p.s. do what you want to do not every one else
- I had Custom Lasik a week ago & I'm loving it! I'm now 20/15. My procedure was painless, no discomfort at all. Since you're only 18, give it a few years before you make your final decision. Good luck with whatever you decide!
- I had the surgery 8 years ago and do not regret it. Your eye is completely frozen with drops and there is absolutely no pain. I had to wear clear patches at night for 2 weeks, and antibiotic eye drops for 1 week. Some people experience slight burning, irritation after the surgery. I however did not, the surgeon told me that the reason I didn't experience any discomfort was probably due to the fact that I never wore contacts. I think that you might still be too young. Your eye prescription needs to be stable for a few years, there is no point getting the surgery if your prescription changes on an annual basis.
- Do it. If your dad is saying to to it, it must be ok for you. Most Ophthalmologists wouldn't suggest surgery for a family member if it wouldn't be a good thing. May I ask who your dad would take you to? There are some LASIK surgeons who are "world renound" but I wouldn't send my enemies to them because of their personalities/personal problems. PS 18 is a perfect age.You will have all those years of great vision before your eyes get old and you need reading glasses.
- I had custom cornea LASIK in April. It DOES NOT HURT. I'm now 20/15 and loving it. By the way, why do you not trust your Dad's opinion even though he's a doctor?
