- Never go anywhere without refs. and accredidation. As for risks.... I couldn't tell you.SORRY!
- A good place to start might be the FDA Lasik guide (NB Lasik is not the only available technique, but it is probably the most common) For suitable candidates, the success rate is high. (96-97% of people who have had it done say they would recommend it to a friend, even if they have noticed some side-effects) But that does not mean it is risk free. Accepting that there may be residual problems, is part of weighing up the whole procedure. (most commonly dry eyes, night-time glare or an Rx not as near zero as hoped for, but with an outside chance of more severe difficulties. ) Your good local doctors is going to depend on local information. Don't be afraid to say "I'm not going through with this" if their behaviour gives you cause for concern during the preliminary procedures. Look for clear and balanced explanations of the risks and benefits. Ask what proportion of people they declare unsuitable. The higher the better: they're being careful! Watch out for a consent form offered for signing at the last minute. You should have time to think things over, not be put where you are expected to sign a waiver in a rush.
