- dont do it. RISKYY!
- I want to get Lasik, but i am not ready, good luck
- See a few opthamologists and an ear, nose and throat doctor in regards to this. Eyes are connected to the larger system. Find out if you are a good candidate.
- Its not always that risky actually. If you find a trusted professional in your community, most of them have been doing it for a long time. My mother had it done, and it worked out great for her for a few years. But after about 8 years, her eye sight started to deteriorate. It wasn't as bad as it used to be, but she still had to have glasses on when she drives. Lasik eye surgery is generally expensive, I'm not sure if its covered by insurance. Hope this helped you a little bit, Nathan S.
- Its about $2,000 an eye. Under the age of 46 is the cut off point to have it. Risky? Depends on who does it, does the doctor have many successes to his credit?
- There are risks but you should discuss them with your Doctor. My husband had it done last June. He was blind as a bat before the surgery. He has not had to wear glasses since and insists that it was worth the money. The total cost is about 1500 per eye. This will very with your prescription for each eye. Hope this helps.
- Laser surgery has been around for 15-20yrs so it is safe, do your own research. They will only do the surgery if your presciption has not changed for a 4-5 yrs.
- If you are going to do it,, dont get the cheap packages.. do the Custom Wave Laser treatment,, bit pricier(3500 both eyes in WA), but my husband has had no problems,, he had the treatment before he went to Iraq(4 years ago) and since has been loving not having to worry about contacts which cause infections and scarring,, or glasses that are always out of reach, go to a reputable Dr. with references. If you are under 18 parental consent is required, good luck!
- I had Lasik 2 years ago. My mom just have it 3 days ago. My sister had it 3 years ago. My best fried did it 2 years ago. I also know 3 more people who did it. All are happy with their result. Vision is at least 20/20 which is the normal vision.I love my result. The risk, well you can have double vision or others, go to the website of the surgery place you are interest in and they will tell you everything you need to know. The cost is $3000 for about eyes. My lasik place recommended that your eye sight should be stable for at least 1 to 2 years before thinking about deciding. That is why sometime people said you should be at least 18 to do it.
- you can be any age, it costs less now because it's not as popular. risks.. TONS.. Lasik works, but lots of hype 1) if the laser malfunctions it could blast your eye apart 2) if the laser misses its mark, chances are damage is irrepairable. 3) Lasik is a one time deal.. when it's done, and is successful, you'll have your 20/20 vision. However: Let's say you're 25 years old. Your eyes change every coupleyears as you get older, actually they can change ever year as well, or every whatever.... let's say in 10 years, your eyes have changed to a point where things are blurry again.. you get to go back to glasses or contacts. Lasik, is a ONE TIME OPERATION. You can't go back again. the other risks, your eye is now weakened, if you had something fall on your head, your eye could implode. Firemen, police, sports people, are not supposed to do lasik because of this. A lot of the Lasik Doctor's, are not all doctors, they are regular people who passed the training course and learned how to make an incision in your eye lens, which DOES NOT EVER HEAL like they say it does. there are also lasik doctor's who slice & dice the eyeball and have surgeries lined up every 30 minutes or less. what's more scary, the program the laser utilizes runs off of Windows NT 3.51. How do I know all of this? I used to work for Visx, who was once the leader in Lasik manufacturing machines. the CEO and president of the company, and ALL of the engineers wouldn't have the procedure done. I wonder why..... the doctor's are excellent at marketing and hype, they know how to debunk the negativity. Don't do it, live with the glasses or contacts. You only get your eyesight once, when its gone, it's gone.
- your prescription has to be stable for 2 years before you get it done. usually they wont do it unless you are teenage/adult. about $2000-$3000 per both eyes. Yes there are risks to it, you have to be careful where you get it places that have it advertised for $250 an eye, iv seen allot of those people come to my clinic with eye infections and cornea damage. you really want to do some research to where you are going to get this done.
- You should be 21. Yes, there are risks. Read this: http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/lasik/risks.htm Here's what it costs: http://www.allaboutvision.com/visionsurgery/cost.htm
- for nearsighted people, the process is less risky, and more worthwhile, as they need glasses to see pretty much everything. for people who only need reading glasses, the laser process is actually more difficult, and less worthwhile. if you are nearsighted, the benefits far outweigh the risks, and i would say go for it. i think you have to be over 18, but you might be able to get parental permission if you're underage (but not too young...)
- I just got Paragon CRT lenses in June. They are great! You only wear them while you sleep. When you wake up take them out and you can see perfectly without other lenses or glasses. Some people are able to wear them for a night and see fine without wearing them again for a few days. I can go 3 days without wearing them before I start to notice a change in vision. They work by reshaping your cornea while you sleep. The are hard lenses that a super easy to insert. It only takes about 3 seconds to put them in. The initial fitting is about $1600 but after that you don't need to replace the lenses for 3-5 years. When you replace them, you are only paying for the lenses - $300. You don't have to pay the fitting fee again. The best thing about them is no surgery. Plus, if you decide you don't want to use them anymore, your vision will go back to the way it was before you started wearing them in about a week. Plus, you are not paying thousands of dollars only to have your vision deteriorate again like you do with lasik. They are excellent! There are age and prescription limitations though. Check out their website.
- Don't do it!!!!!!! It is way to risky to even think abput!!!
