- My dad had Lasix done about ten years ago and has never had to wear glasses again. Some people still do not have perfect vision though...he just got lucky. And he was also legally blind before he had it done! He said it did not hurt a bit, he really couldn't even feel it. The only thing for him was he had to wait until the halos faded to return to night shift (it happens worse at night, especially in the beginning) and he had to use artificial tears to keep the eye lubricated for the first year. Which is not a big deal. He says he wishes he would have done it ten years before he did (even though it was not big then). He loved Lasix. I think many people have positive experiences with it.
- I had laser surgery 9 years ago and only now need glasses for driving or the cinema. I also have an astigmatism and they were able to radically reduce that. I used the biggest company at the time in London who had been open 10 years. Optimax. I had to have PRK and they no longer do that. Its lasik now. They use a laser to cut a flap and re lie it down flat. Its not very painful at all and you leave with a clear shield so you can use your eye straight away. Its the best thing I ever did. Your age may be an issue but only as far as your prescription goes. ie do you need vari/bi focals? I dont know if they can correct both but they will tell you all of that. You have nothing to lose from ringing them. Go for it. I had a -6.0 prescription and went down to a -0.5!! I was thrilled.
- I had lasik just under 3 weeks ago and I had absolutely no pain at all. I emptied the dishwasher about an hour after having it done. I now see 20/10. The only thing going against you is age. I am not sure how that works. I do not know any companies in england because I am in the US. Hope all goes well.
- My husband had his eyes done 10 years ago. He still have good vision. The doctors told him as he get older there is a chance he will need reading glasses. He is 48 and still have good sight, and no reading glasses. I am actually thinking of having mine done too, however I will need reading glasses as I wear bi-focals
