- yes, the military will do it, though you may have to travel to a different base to get it done depending on how large the medical facility is at your duty station. It also can take a long time (area dependent), the waiting list where i was stationed was over a year long.
- you won't be able to get it for about 2 years into your contract. you're better off saving up and getting it yourself (or just wearing glasses), heading out to Iraq isn't worth it.
- This is true. You get put on a waiting list and when your name comes up you get lasik. I had to wait 4 months before going in but hey, it was free.
- contact TriCare and find out
- Yes, but there's usually a several month and up to to a year waiting list depending on where you are stationed.
- well they give you heath insurance so if they dont then you might have to pay a deductible for it which shouldnt be to bad
- I doubt it, it is an elective surgery. They will pay for your glasses though. Brown ugly-ass frames that the men call "birth control glasses" and the women call "rape prevention glasses". Four years of your life is an expensive way to pay for eye surgery. Unless you have other reasons to want to join the Marines, don't do it. Get a job instead.
- no
- First, you have to survive boot camp. Good luck and start running........
- Not unless it is deemed necessary for your job. My son is in the military and was told he couldn't have it even if he paid for on his own. He can't change his eye sight other than with contacts or glasses.
- The coolest part is that they use the targeting laser on an AH-64.
- My friend is in the marines for about 9 months, and my friends brother has been in the Army for over a year now. neither has recieved lasik even though they've both opted to recieve it. they have both been issued glasses, but one chooses to just not wear them, unless it's necessary. because they're horribleness x 297234
- former active duty Marine here, after MCRD you will go to SOI or MCT. Then off to the fleet or more school depending on what you sign for. It wont be until your insurance kicks in and then thats if the insurance covers it. When I enlisted I was told I had MP only to find out in BC that I was lied to. So I took infantry. Dont believe all that your recruiter says. Get it on paper. You are basically a contract for service, if its not in writing oh well. They have a quota to meet and will tell you anything to get u off subject. I wish you the best, the only advice i can offer is get a family member there too. Just a little history lesson for you that you will learn anyway if you join. The Marines were started about 210 years ago, barroom brawlers were dooped into signing a contract supposedly about the best beer when it was actually for service. They woke up on ships to fight with no legal standing in there favor. They signed it. Some things never change.
- Believe nothing that a recruiter tells you.Their job is to get you to enlist, not to tell you the truth!I am a veteran(i.e.,been there, done that.)
- The recruiters will tell you almost anything to get you to sign up. Be very, very careful.
- Yes they will with no catch at all. You may be put on a waiting list or something but hey its worth the wait in the end.
