Lasik Eye Correction

laser eye correction help?

im 13 now and short sighted. i wear contact lenses because glasses do my head in but they are sometimes alot of hassle. iv thought about getting laser eye surgery when im older (alot older, dont worry!) but im not sure of the risks and iv heard from a couple of people that it doesn't even correct your eyes fully. has anybody had this surgery done ? what are the risks ? help would be much appreciated. thanks x

  1. You are a little too young for laser eye surgery. The proper age for it is around 25 since you lens is still developing. My parents did the laser surgery couple years ago and both of them are totally fine. I'm 21 right now and planning to do the same when I'm 25. Obviously it's important to consult your doctor first whether there are issues with it since each person can be different.. like due to genetics, your lens, etc. Yes, wearing glasses can be a pain because of sports and all that but just get use to it for the time being. All surgery carry risk, even if it's 1% you'll have to know that something can occur to your eyes. It's a risk that you'll have to think it through thoroughly before. talk to your parents about it and remeber to find a good doctor. The cost can be pretty high if you find a good doctor..since this is a once in a life time thing (most likely)..it's important to find a good doctor even if it's pricey...it's your eyes man. 2. You need to wait until your eyes mature. Eyeglasses are not that bad are they? You use contact lenses! In surgery there are always risks! Think about it for a while. When you become 25 or so maybe they will have come up with even a newer invention!
  3. There are risks involving laser eye surgery. I suggest you read information on this website: http://www.lasiksucks4u.com/ You may be interested to know that there is an alternative treatment for short sightedness called natural vision correction. It consists of specific eye exercises and techniques that can improve your eye sight and it's completely safe. I used to be short sighted with slight astigmatism and was able to improve my vision completely with these exercises. Eye exercises require persistence, but they are worth every bit of it. Hope this helps! Best regards,
