Lasik Eye Correction

My girlfriend is having eye surgery to reattach her retina. Can we still have sex?

My girlfriend's doctor has recommended that she refrain from having sex during her two week recovery time following her eye surgery. Why? We are lesbians. Does this make a difference?

  1. hahah. how do lesbians have sex? im serious? maybe it has to do with having an orgasm, u kno muscle spasms. iono.
  2. just make her wear an eyepatch and ure good to go! Horaay for lesbians!
  3. Sex and orgasms raises eye pressure and any extra eye pressure can detach it again causing more surgery. My husband is having lens replacement surgery soon and we are freaking out about the 2 weeks off.
  4. Your girlfriend is having SURGERY and you're thinking about SEX? I think she should dump you.
  5. Probably want to keep her blood pressure steady. Having sex will raise blood pressure and may cause complications
  6. WHAT EVER HER DOCTOR RECOMMENDS ..
  7. Don't have sex for that time. Do you guys use a fake penis or a cucumber or what e-mail me and tell me.
  8. I DONT SEE WHY YOU COULDNT HAVE SEX STILL, I MEAN REALLY, WHAT DOES AN ORGASM HAVE TO DO WITH AN EYEBALL, HAHA! DOCTORS ARE SO STUPID NOW DAYS ANYWAYS. I SAY GET ER DONE!!!!!!! GOING DOWN ON HER IS NOT GOING TO AFFECT HER EYE. RIGHT!?
  9. I do see a problem with that. Although you may have to be careful because in some instances you cannot elevate the blood pressure or do strenuous activities because it can interfere with the healing process of the eye. Think of it this way, heart rate goes up, heart works harder, eye takes longer to hear and may be dangerous, i.e. blood clot and hemerging.
  10. the dr. does not want the eye in any area that may cause the eye to get infected. so oral sex is a no..no for now. she should not give, i should say.
  11. its two weeks .. I know its roguh but wait and it will be even better after u wait two weeks .. its surgery and its her eye .. get a grip here .. its not all about sex in a relationship .. geez!!
  12. i think the crusader should shutup. who wouldnt think about sex at a time like that? probably cuz the orgasms cause the whole body to go into a much tenser state, and that could cause problems with the retina. and if you squirt, you dont want to get womancum in her eye.
  13. I would have her discuss it with her doctor. My dad when he had to have surgury on his eye he had to sit face down for two weeks to make sure everything healed right.
  14. I'm not making fun, but the question struck me as kind of funny. =] But it might be because the um force could cause her to react in such a way that would damage it. I'm no expert at eye specifics so i'm sorry I can't be of more help.. =[
  15. Go play with yourself.
  16. do not do it. seriously. retinal reattachment surgery is VERY FRAGILE. any and i mean any strenuous activity could cause a re-detachment or bleeding or inflammation... bad idea. wait 2 weeks.
  17. just listen to the doctor.
  18. Listen to Princeidoc. The retina, after it has detached from the rest of the eye, becomes very fragile, and if someone strains, does anything to increase their blood pressure or heart rate, it puts additional strain on the blood vessels to the retina. Being lesbians has absolutely nothing to do with it. My retinal specialists instruct their patients not to even lift anything over 10 pounds for 2 weeks! There are different procedures for retinal reattachment: Scleral buckles, cryotherapy, laser, gas bubbles. If she is having the gas bubble procedure, she would also need to remain in a particular position depending on where the detachment is. Her doctor has made a good recommendation, and while I'm not a retina specialist myself...I do know what the eye surgeons in the office I work for recommend...and I have seen recurrent retinal detachment come back in because the patient maybe went back to work to a physical/lifting job too soon. Think this way...is risking a return to good vision worth not heeding the doctor's recommendations for a few evenings of intimacy leading to more surgeries and loss of vision that could lead to permanancy. Best of luck to your girlfriend on her surgery, and heed her physician's instructions, or more eye surgeries could be in the future.
