Lasik Eye Correction

Is eye surgery really all that?

I'm planning on getting eye surgery in four more years. (When I am 18) I currently have glasses, but I find them quite disturbing. If I remove my glasses I can't see a clear image. It's very blurry. Well anyways.. Do you think eye surgery would be a good idea, would it make my site much better? I'm worried that they might accedently blind me... is that possible? Thank you.

  1. Your first stop needs to be to your eye doctor...he/she can determine in a (usually) free evaluation if you are a good candidate for Lasik or Lasek. There is a slight difference in the two, so get online and do your research. I have to say that I am almost 31 and wore glasses/contacs for over 20 years of my life. Almost one year ago, I had Lasek - and I love the differences - things that most people take for granted. I can see the stars at night when I go camping, I can see people around me when I'm in a pool or at the beach. It's a new and wonderful feeling to get up out of bed in the morning and just be able to see.....I'd never experienced that before. All that said, eye surgery is not for everyone. Please be sure to do your research.
  2. There is a proplem. You are probably nearsighted if you can't see clearly in the distaance without lenses. Tipically this condition progresses through the growth of the eye until one is 26 years old. If you were to get refractive surgery now you might have some changes in your eyes that would produce still higher myopia. What if you needed a change in two or three years? Your sight would be better after the surgery.
  3. Hey Princess -- Thanx 4 asking about such an important thing! People w/ eye disease in family. It has adversly affects succes in school & work. We have many (>10) surgerys. If it is done by qualified people in hospital it is fairly low risk. Get as much info as U can w/ parents. If Doc recomend, Get done As SOON as possible. Over 18 Parents' insurance may NOT cover surgery.
  4. Generally, I think most people are happy with results from REPUTABLE doctors. Don't listen just to the success stories. Ask about what could go wrong even if the odds are remote.....
  5. I would love to get it done too, but i know someone who suffered complications, and now I am worried. her eyesight is very blury, and she has pain now, so I woul do as much research as possible before you do anything like that.
