My mate has a little black dot on her eye which never goes away - it looks like a pen dot?
Doesn't affect her vision and doesn't hurt but we were wondering what it is. She has had laser eye correction surgery but some time ago

- My son has 3 small dots- 2 on one and 1 on the other. They are normal and nothing to worry about.
- my daughter has one too and she has one brown and one blue eye the gp said its just how the color pigment formed in the eye during growth in the womb
- my old english teacher used to have exactly the same as what your friend has got and we used to call her bullett!!! pmsl!!! i forgot about that!!! oh gosh the memories
- I didn't understand the dot was on her eyeball itself. It's probably OK.
- my friends suffers this since he fell on his head, he went to the opticias they told him its basically part of his retina which has detached. Not a lot they can do about it apparently, although if they have had corrective surgery it migh be worth getting them to check it out.
- I have one on my right eye. I don't have any bother with it either. I'm not sure if there is a name for it, but I just call it 'my eyeball's beauty spot' hehe.
- might jus be a bit of extra pigment... nothin to worry bout but next time she goes to the optometrists jus ask
- To get a true diagnosis, she would need to see an eye doctor, but it kinda sounds like a nevus...or a mole on her eye. It's usually a benign process...some of us are born with. This wouldn't be a result of the laser surgery she had. Next time she goes in for an eye exam, be sure to point out to the optometrist (though if you can see it, they can also) and ask specifically for them to look closely at it. Iris nevi do not affect vision typically, but do need to be monitored, just like moles on your skin, for any changes.
- Jennifer is right if the spot is in the eye (retina) in which case you would not be able to see it. If it is on the scalera (white part of the eye) or the iris (colored part of the eye) it sounds like it's just pigment, sometimes pigment is not evenly distributed and these dark spots appear just like a birthmark on the skin. If you've never noticed it before it is a good idea to have it checked out. good luck!
- its like freakles or moles on ur skin.. except its in ur eyes
