Eye correction techniques?
A few years back I saw a news segment where there was a technique to correct bad eyesight not involving lasers. It somehow involved changing the shape of the eye (I think) and was only available in canada since the USDA wouldn't approve the procedure. I may be mistaken about some of the details. Could you please list all available medical procedures for eye correction other than lasik? Thank you.

- A permanent contact lens is what I know of.
- I have seen no such thing outside of scams.
- Well, there are a couple things that come to mind besides lasik which changes the shape of the eye... RK (radial keratotomy), which they don't do too often these days, doesn't use a laser. They cut radial slits in the cornea. CK (conductive Keratoplasty) is more for older people with presbyopia (everyone will develop this as they age, your near vision will decrease a little and you'll need reading glasses.) Another refractive procedure that DOES use a laser but no corneal flap (which is not FDA approved in the US) is LASEK (as opposed to LASIK). Also, ICL's (implantable contact lenses) are becoming more popular. They are approved in the US, I'm not sure how long they have been. Definitley speak to a doctor if you're considering any of these. I just thought I'd throw my two cents in to help you learn more about these if they were what you were looking for. :)
